About the Author
David Levi Strauss is a writer and critic in New York.
He edited the literary journal Acts and published his first book of poetry, Manoeuvres, in San Francisco before moving to New York in 1993.
His other books of essays include Between the Eyes: Essays on Photography & Politics, with an introduction by John Berger (Aperture, 2003), and From Head to Hand: Art & the Manual (Oxford University Press, 2010).
The philosopher and critic Arthur Danto has called him an art critic of exceptional originality and depth.
I can think of none in this field I would rank ahead of him in terms of his knowledge, his seriousness, his adventure, and the power of his writing.
