When Rosemary Clooney appeared on David Frankham's BBC radio program in 1955, she encouraged her host to pursue his unfulfilled dream of acting.
Without knowing anyone else in America, Frankham left England for Hollywood, where a same day chance encounter with Elizabeth Taylor and Alec Guinness soon launched him onto live television without a single acting lesson or credit to his name.
Frankham appeared on many of TV's enduring classics, from playing Larry Marvick, one of the engineers who designed the USS Enterprise on Star Trek, to other popular shows such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Outer Limits, and Maverick.
Movie success followed, including leading roles in Return of the Fly, Master of the World, and Tales of Terror, all three starring his boyhood idol, Vincent Price.
Other notable film roles included voicing Sgt.
Tibs the cat in Disney's 101 Dalmatians.
With a foreword by film and Disney historian Brian Sibley, here is the inspiring story of a working actor whose passion for his craft only enhanced his appreciation of working with such greats as Walt Disney, Basil Rathbone, Debra Paget, Boris Karloff, Shirley Temple, Rock Hudson, Roger Corman, and many more.
David Frankham shares his stories and the positive worldview that enabled him to make boyhood dreams come true.

  •     What a wonderful book! This is an autobiography of David Frankham who always wanted to act but didn't make it to Hollywood until he was almost 30. David is the definition of if you believe you can do it, you can. The book takes the reader through Hollywood's "heyday" and the author's role in it from the early 1950's to almost present day (I haven't finished reading it yet). Very well written and a must for anyone interested in what really went on behind the scenes.
  •     I enjoyed reading "Which One Was David?". Mr. Frankham, Mr. Dixon and Mr. Hollifield worked well in obtaining the information and putting it all together to tell David's story. A genuine story that I will treasure.
  •     This is an excellent first hand biography of a talented performer. His memory recall and up close look into the every day life of an aspiring or budding actor is marvelous. The inside look at how hard it was and is to be working actor in a business that is known for chewing people up and spitting them out is true and up to date. An excellent look at the personal life of this actor and the business side of Hollywood.
  •     David Frankham has had such a unique career that it's tough to say what part of this book I enjoyed the most. Acting, writing, interviewing, cartoon voices, theater David has done it all. I must say that given the details of some of these stories & how far back some of the details of his life go back, the reader is the beneficiary. If it's not a great story about working with legends such as Vincent Price or Basil Rathborne it's reading about how while working as an actor he continued his BBC radio journalism interviews with such legends as Barbara Stanwyck & how he became friends with her and several other Hollywood legends during the process and after. David is as genuine a person as this book portrays him. Don't let any of this book fool you. He is this man & a whole lot more. If you like stories about old hollywood, 50's, 60's, 70's TV years this is the book for you. Well written could not put it down.
  •     An absolutely EXCEPTIONAL memoir by an actor who spanned many decades and met MANY of the greatest talents in Show Business! Even if David did not have a pleasurable experience with a personality, which was rare, he speaks highly of each and praises his/her talents. This is obviously a well thought-out book written by a TRUE gentleman, sadly from a bygone era. Today's celebrities could learn a lot of lessons from this warm, congenial man. Have NO misgivings about buying and reading this book. Believe me, you will want to pick it up and read it over and over again. Profusely illustrated with stills and photographs, this is a book that should be in the library of each and every person who has ever loved the movies (and television). I cannot say enough WONDERFUL things about this SUPERB autobiography. If you have never heard of David Frankham, once you have read this book, you will develop a fondness for this Prince of a Man and want to see everything that he ever appeared in. TREAT YOURSELF and buy this book in either hard copy or ebook form. I PROMISE YOU, you will NOT be disappointed, and will TREASURE it forever!!
